Artist Bio: Mary is an eclectic artist and works resurrecting furniture and recycled home decor pieces. Her company name "Play a New Tune" describes her whimsical and colorful artwork sold in galleries/cafes in Tucson, Bisbee, and Tubac AZ and Santa Fe, NM. Her art and design philosophy is "Red is a neutral" which allows an expansive transition from old to new. Her first medium was working in fabric and she created and sold over 150 dolls at art shows throughout the Midwest. Then she moved into assemblage incorporating her love of the all things southwest into her artwork.
In her "full time" role, she works remotely for Kansas State University recruiting international, transfer and high school students. She and her husband Dave, a psychologist with the military moved from Manhattan, KS in 2016 to Sierra Vista. They have two children, a daughter a graduate from Kansas State and working in Washington DC and a son, soon to be graduating in May.
